The Garden Announce Their New Album By Dropping “Orange County Punk Rock Legend”

At the end of July, The Garden announced the release of their newest album, Horseshit on Route 66 (out September 8th) by dropping the music video for the lead single, “Orange County Punk Rock Legend.” It’s a shorter song, clocking in at a little over a minute and a half, and is a departure from their usual work while still containing elements that are distinct to The Garden.

The single still features the heavy drum sound and more raw vocals that are a part of the duo’s signature sound but includes a lighter guitar and melody which give “Orange County Punk Rock Legend,” a more chill and laid-back feel.

According to Wyatt Shears, “Orange County Punk Rock Legend,”

“…was written in the back of an old restaurant called Yang Ming. I decided to write it after being slapped by the old cook.”

The music video for “Orange County Punk Rock Legend” is set in a skate park, where twin brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears don their jester costumes as a giant jester figure stands behind them the entire video. The color grading of the video switches between an over-saturated palette and a black and white filter, as though the video was shot in the 90s or early 2000s. Overall, the single and music video for “Orange County Punk Rock Legend,” serves as a nod to their home city of Orange County, and the Southern California hardcore scene in general.
