SEB RELEASES NEW EP “IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING II: DON’T WORRY, I’LL BE FINE”

Where are my West Coast readers at? You for sure don’t want to miss out on this one! The LA-based hip-hop artist and producer SEB has just released his sophomore EP,  IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING II: don’t worry, i’ll be fine, via Mom+Pop. The seven-track EP, including the previously released singles “SAVE ME,” “fuck it, i’m the man,” and “get yo bread” is the beginning of a new artistic era for the young musician. SEB has out-done himself with this one, diving even deeper into his world-traveling background (he moved from city to city growing up, including stints in Chicago, New York, Haiti, Oklahoma, and Miami) to create a sound so unique we don’t even have a word to describe it yet. The best way to describe it would be an exciting mix from acoustic reveries to hip-hop to proto-funk to capital P Pop. Can’t quite wrap your head around what that would sound like? Let’s have a listen to his song “3am in NYC” which just dropped with a music video:

Don’t worry this article also has something for our East Coast readers. The song is actually inspired by SEB’s journey in NYC (duh) and fittingly the music video features personal snapshots of his everyday life there that have been artistically crafted into a collage.

“‘3am in nyc’ serves as a snapshot of my time in NYC. Specifically those late nights, going out drinking and being on the train with my friends. At that time in my life, there was never anywhere I had to be, so every night was always an adventure: whether it was roaming the city, going out to bars or meeting new people in the most random places.”

Now for a little softer love song that goes more into the direction of a quirky modern version of a ballade:

The song “du wut u du_” is the final track of IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING II: don’t worry, i’ll be fine and also one of the shortest besides“pretty bitch”.  With its smooth guitar and melodic percussion in the background, the track is an absolute feel-good banger. Towards the end of the song, you are surprised by the appearance of an enigmatic e-guitar riff accompanying the outro. It just adds the right amount of zazz to finish the tune on a high note and keep the listener on their toes. It’s this part that really ties it together for me and makes the song stand out from the rest of the EP. Of course, the romantic lyrics in which he declares his love to his partner, stating that she basically turned his whole life upside down when she “du wut u du_” are also a big contributor to making this my fav of SEB’s recent releases.

In fact, his partner was a quasi-co-inspiration for this whole EP because the majority of the songs took shape during a month-long road trip that the couple did last year. While traveling the beautiful American countryside SEB was inspired by the places they visited and the freedom of the open road to create something new and exciting. Since emerging in 2020 with his first single “Boys Don’t Cry”, SEB has come a long way amassing a staggering 50MM+ streams for his breakthrough hit “seaside_demo” alone. It is safe to say that IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING II: don’t worry, i’ll be fine will become his next great sensation in no time!
