ODESZA Drops “Love Letter” ft. The Knocks and Announces Album Release Date, 7/22

ODESZA has certainly been keeping fans fulfilled these last few months. From sending fans in a frenzy with cryptic website messaging prior to dropping “The Last Goodbye” to announcing their first show in three years to now announcing the release date of their fourth studio album, the much-loved indietronica duo is making quite the spectacular return and honestly, we are here for it.

The Last Goodbye will be out on July 22, 2022. That’s exactly one week before their first show night in their hometown of Seattle, which means attendees of that weekend will have the first look at how these songs are performed and what the live production, which ODESZA is known for, will look like.

In conjunction with this announcement is the release of the duo’s third single from the forthcoming album – “Love Letter” featuring The Knocks, another heavyweight duo in the electronic realm. ODESZA is also known for crafting a unique journey from start to finish throughout their albums, and that holds true here as well. Where “The Last Goodbye” focuses on coming to terms with having to say goodbye and “Better Now” focuses on taking a leap into the unknown, “Love Letter” uses its choppy synths and minimal vocals with a repeated lyrical hook to convey an unwanted heartbreak shielded by soulful denial. Even though there’s a joyful dance beat and cheerful vocalizations that back the raspier main vocals, the production itself is underlined by fluttering instrumentals and soaring orchestral strings and a sense of something feeling off in the beat at times. As the rest of the album continues to shape out, it will be interesting to see what story ODESZA decides to bring us on this time – perhaps one of love lost and the journey following?

You can listen to “Love Letter” and the rest of the released singles below. Pre-order and pre-save for The Last Goodbye is also live!
