Vance Joy has released a cover version of The Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York” through the Atlantic Records’ annual holiday compilation. This rendition of the 1987 Christmas classic was already released on his YouTube channel last year and had immediately become a fan favourite. The cover is now being made available for fans across DSPs.  He is known for singles “Riptide” and “Fire and the Flood” and he is back with an acoustic delivery of “Fairytale of New York”

In a note to his fans, Vance Joy said of the release: “In the spirit of sharing this season I wanted to do this little cover for you. ‘Fairytale of New York’ is one of the greatest songs.” This catalogue has already garnered over 5 billion streams, as well as over 3 billion views on TikTok and 2.6 million user-created videos.

The multi-platinum Australian singer and songwriter has sold over two million copies of his debut album. Right after performing at open mic nights in Melbourne, Joy unveiled his ukulele-led charm ‘Riptide’, which instantly became a global classic.  Following this Vance Joy released ‘Mess is Mine’, ‘Georgia’ and ‘Fire and the Flood’ off his 2014’s debut ’dream your life away’. Vance Joy then went on to tour the globe on Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour, and he also played at several world-famous festivals such as Lollapalooza, Coachella, and more.

‘Nation of Two’ his sophomore album with ‘Lay It On Me’ the lead single was yet another successful album. Following the success of ‘Nation of Two’ Vance Joy toured the world throughout 2018 and headlined at multiple venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and theatres across Latin American, Europe and Australia including two sold-out hometown shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

Vance Joy follows an intimate and anthemic songwriting style, which connects to the listeners easily. His lyrics talk about everyday experiences in a unique and captivating way and add a magnetic mix of folk/pop music.
