Vance Joy has released a cover version of The Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York” through the Atlantic Records’ annual holiday compilation. This rendition of the 1987 Christmas classic was already released on his YouTube channel last year and had immediately become a fan favourite. The cover is now being made available for fans across DSPs. He is known for singles “Riptide” and “Fire and the Flood” and he is back with an acoustic delivery of “Fairytale of New York”
In a note to his fans, Vance Joy said of the release: “In the spirit of sharing this season I wanted to do this little cover for you. ‘Fairytale of New York’ is one of the greatest songs.” This catalogue has already garnered over 5 billion streams, as well as over 3 billion views on TikTok and 2.6 million user-created videos.
