Keep on Proving Yourself: Otis Fondè’s “4:44”
Otis Fondè released “4:44” as apart of his February 2022 album Clarity. His craft for making music was inspired by his father (a former DJ), and has allowed him to spend endless nights making beats and writing rhymes.
Known as a true aspirational story teller, Fondè creates music with themes of success and the pursuit for personal growth and development. He prefers his content to be more meaningful than catchy, and values substance over the stereotypical. Clarity triumphantly presents itself after being worked on for two years, and comes from Fondè’s desire to “KOPY” (Keep on Proving Yourself).

“4:44” is an excellent example of unfiltered thoughts told in an artistic manner. Fondè expresses how he values family over success, and that going over the top isn’t worth it if you aren’t being considerate of what you believe in. He disagrees with the mindset of being creative just to make money, and disapproves of making what people want just to fit in. “Music is supposed to be the place to get it off your chest” he says, meaning that music is an outlet to be unapologetically yourself in your own unique style. The world needs more creatives like this, creatives that can inspire others by living truly authentic lives, and the way that “4:44” presents itself proves that this can be done in truth.
