HOT NEW DROP: OLIVER TREE RELEASES NEW SINGLE “PLACEHOLDER”

We’re back with a burning hot new drop fresh off the label. Get ready to be blown away by the cowboy with the stellar mullet and his new single “Placeholder”. The chart-topping, genre-bending viral phenomenon- OLIVER TREE has released another preview of his upcoming album Cowboy TearsThe pop-punk anthem produced by Tree, Travis Barker, and Nick Long (Machine Gun Kelly, 5SOS) is the second single from the deluxe version of his sophomore album, Cowboy Tears, due later this Summer. The LP was first unveiled this spring with a first sneak release of “I Hate You,” produced in collaboration with celebrated DJ Whethan.

“This song is about a placeholder at a dinner I went to a few months back. The person who was supposed to be sitting next to me didn’t show up and it was the most beautiful, elegant plate and utensils set up that went completely unused. Afterwards I drove directly to the studio and wrote a song about it.”

If you’re a fan of blink 182, you for sure are going to love “Placeholder”. The song is a refreshing throwback to the good old grunge days with its familiar beats and the familiar theme of teenage angst companying the sick guitar riffs. Oliver Tree sings about the fear of being forgotten and simply feeling insignificant. Slightly depressing yet highly relatable, especially when you are currently in a transition phase in your life. The singer is belting out the lyrics with such elan and power that it’s impossible not to bob your head along the tune. Dare I say it even reminds me a little of “Mr. Brightside” (who can forget that absolute gem of the past)? What do you guys think? Do you catch the similarities? Let me know in the comments below!

Oliver will celebrate the deluxe release of Cowboy Tears with a much anticipated new leg of his blockbuster Cowboy Tears North American headline tour. Oliver’s most ambitious live run to date, Cowboy Tears – One Last Ride gets underway August 4 at San Diego, CA’s Petco Park with his very own one-day event, “Oliver Tree Presents: Fire Festival,” featuring an all-star lineup of special guests including Smash Mouth, Sueco, JAWNY, Huddy, and Little Ricky ZR3.
