MAYDAY PARADE DROP ENERGETIC LOVE SONG “THUNDER”
Pop-punk emo band Mayday Parade have released “Thunder” a new upbeat track all about a relationship that is constantly up and down on the emotional rollercoaster. “Thunder” is an outtake of the band’s studio album What It Means To Fall Apart and was produced by multi-platinum producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. The beat of the song bounces off the idea of thunder in the background. Every time you hear the drum it’s like you can almost picture yourself looking out a window and see the storm brewing. It is a calm storm, relaxing and makes you reflect.

This song is showing how the rain can be a cleansing for the soul. The relationship may be wild, upside but once that thunder sounds it’s the start to a clean slate. The rain washes away everything, but the thunder and lightning still keep you in tune with the battles that may be faced. Storm watchers, this song might just be for you. The spontaneity of a storm, watching the rain pour down, focusing on the sounds, the sky beaming with lightning. It is exciting and thrilling like a relationship being described. It has such passion and spark.
The lead singer, Jason Lancaster sings about wanting another try. He believes this relationship can be salvaged. He is sending a message to this women that she can’t just pretend there isn’t something undeniable between them. Give the relationship another try, like thunder. It is loud and strong and without it, there is no lighting (aka the spark). Not all storms are bad, most of the time there are rainbows at the end of them. “Thunder” shines a light that love is worth fighting for.
“‘Thunder’ is a song I wrote about being in a long-term relationship, feeling like at times the fire is gone but that it’s still worth holding onto. Don’t give up! All relationships are tough but the good ones are worth it.”
Mayday Parade’s Guitarist, Brooks Betts
Before even watching the visualizer video, it is the exact scene that was painted when I was listening to the song. The eerie mood but yet it is so captivating. It is the true meaning of freely dancing in the rain, feeling the water on your skin. This is a song to throw on at night while cruising the streets (safely, of course) and having the one you love next to you. You’re both singing your heart out, keeping that bond alive.
