Brett Young’s vault-protected love was stolen by a heart-bank robber and he did not care… or so occurred to his narrating character, in part, because the narrator was too impressed by the alluded lady’s flawless seduction to voice concern over his missing consent. In part, he liked how their serendipitous encounter blossomed into a genuine love story.
“You Got Away With It” could turn into the latest number one for Young, who’s done just that with “Here Tonight”, “Mercy”, “Like I Loved You”, “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Catch”.
Like pop-country, coastal transplant Tezza, Young blew into Nashville with a unique voice. For the Southern California crooner, this latest track has developed that sound, yet taking it another step.
Though a proud invitee to, and performer for, countless livestream concerts, the halt to touring has simultaneously benefitted him similarly to many other artists (read: prolific recording of newly written songs).
Produced by Dann Huff, Young co-wrote the entitled track with Justin Ebach, Ashley Gorley, Jon Nite, and Jimmy Robbins. Together, they dug into the narrator’s amazement in the presence of his current love.
In the odd event she was unaware of her superpower, he regaled her with a rundown of how easily she accomplished her feat. Like Kobe Bryant’s crossover, her flirtatious aptitude belied the amount of practice put in to making the masterful play seem simple.
He lyrically noted some of those skills on display.
Unwilling to rest on his laurels, this Big Machine Label Group artist will have plenty to deliver fans in 2021. For more on the Single discussed or his current country radio hit “Lady”, check out Brett Young.
