Guns or Crosses” is the 4th single from Nathaniel Paul leading up to his debut album. On this song, Paul laments the current state of affairs and asks this question: “Why sell a man a gun when you can lend him a hand?” This line of thought stemmed from a conversation Paul had with someone in his family who said it was time to buy a weapon to defend themselves. In response, Paul asked them, “Would you rather die with a gun in your hand or a cross?”

In the music video for this song, Paul uses footage of a community painting a Black Lives Matter mural on the street to showcase the good that humanity can achieve when they find common ground. As Paul himself has said, “It is good to remember that when we work together with common causes, that can lead to positive results [sic].” The footage was shot by Kelly Lacy and edited by Paul. He also thanks PEXELS for making the footage available.

He began his music career in New York City after growing up in Michigan City, Indiana. He released three other solo singles before “Guns or Crosses“: “Virtues,” “It’s All A Rage,” and “songbird.” He has also since released one more single entitled “Silence.” Check them out if you like what you hear!

Obsessed with all things music. Finished that MFA, so now I’m apparently a master of this. Bouncing around state borders, going wherever. If you see me at a show, say hey!
