The true Barbie — Nicki Minaj — has come to join the team of Barbie The Album.
With the help of Ice Spice, the duo paired with the original creators of “Barbie Girl,” Aqua, to breathe fresh life into the song with “Barbie World.”
In the accompanying music video, Minaj and Spice transform into real-life Barbies, flying through pink clouds and driving in pink cars.
The song is all about uplifting their fellow Barbies. In the upbeat chorus, Minaj and Spice rap:
All of the Barbies is pretty (Damn)
All of the Barbies is bad
It girls (It girls) and we ain’t playin’ tag (Grrah)
“Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice
“Barbie World” is the perfect homage to “Barbie Girl,” never losing the classic style of Aqua’s track. A sped-up version of “Barbie Girl” plays in the background as Minaj and Spice add in a new beat.
Along with the version of “Barbie World” that can be heard in the music video, Minaj and Spice dropped five other versions of the track, including a sped-up version and an instrumental one. There truly is a Barbie song for all.
Greta Gerwig — director of the upcoming Barbie film — assembled an all-star team for the movie’s soundtrack.
