You’ve probably heard Marian Hill before in their best known single “Down,” which made them almost an overnight sensation once it broke through from the internet. They’ve since proved their consistency as an innovative alt-electronic act, performing at the Grammy’s and music festival with Electric Forest and all the in-betweens. The NYC famed alt-pop duo is back with their iconic smoky trap-jazz style music. Their single “oOo that’s my type” is a cheeky and minimalistic, soulful and swanky tune featuring Yung Baby Tate. It’s all sass glamour in this one. The music video is has a fun way to explore the dating app world with Marian Hill and Yung Baby Tate having fun looking through their local pickings for the night. “oOo that’s my type” is, of course, sexy and flirty, full of gritty bass and ingenious instrumentation, including but not limited to, water droplets, finger snaps and mysterious vocal effects.

We can expect a fresh upcoming album coming from Marian Hill. Touching on a brief hiatus in which they almost disbanded, the duo checked back in with themselves and their art. “In a year when Samantha found herself turning 30 in her childhood bedroom and Jeremy suffered a traumatic injury to both of his wrist, the music we made for Marian Hill gave us something to feel good about in a world full of uncertainty. For a few moments each day, we could get lost in a song, and pretend we were playing it for you. and we made our favorite album yet.”
