Colombian-American R&B singer Kali Uchis will join California rapper Tyler, the Creator on his North American tour in support of his latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, in the winter and spring of 2022. The tour will also feature California rapper Vince Staples and Texas rapper Teezo Touchdown.
Uchis featured prominently on Tyler, the Creator’s critically lauded 2017 breakthrough album Flower Boy, which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2018 GRAMMYs. He has also appeared on Uchis’s songs, including on her Platinum-certified breakout single “After the Storm” (also featuring legendary funk bassist Bootsy Collins) in 2018.
Uchis’s single “Telepatia,” from her most recent LP and Spanish-language debut Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) recently surpassed 1 billion total streams on Spotify and became the first song in nearly a decade by a female artist to reach number 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart without a featured artist, holding the position for seven consecutive weeks. In June, the song also reached number 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay, Latin Pop Airplay, and Latin Digital Song Sales charts. Sin Miedo (del Amor 7 Otros Demonios) was the only album by a female artist nominated for Favorite Pop Album at the Latin American Music Awards.
Uchis recently won her first Grammy award: her collaboration with producer Kaytranada, “10%,” won Best Dance Recording. On October 8, she will perform at the 34th Hispanic Heritage Awards, broadcast on PBS, where she will be recognized as the 2021 “Inspira Honoree.” She also recently released her sin miedo // acoustic EP, featuring acoustic versions of several songs from her last LP, including “telepatia.”
