Kacey’s Latest Single, “Inevitable,” Mixes a Melancholic Soundscape with Relatable Lyrics
There are moments in life when it can be difficult to truly know what one wants, especially if an array of conflicting emotions is bubbling up to the surface. These thoughts and feelings are captured perfectly in Kacey’s newest acoustic ballad, “Inevitable.” The minimal instrumental of acoustic guitar and percussion focus on Kacey’s vocal performance, along with the lyrics.
Kacey summarizes “Inevitable” as being about,
“…wanting to be somewhere but not really knowing where that place is and also about being in a rut in life. Feeling down and knowing that it’s just something that you can’t control even though you don’t want to be.”

With its acoustic undertones and Kacey’s smooth vocals, “Inevitable” is the ideal track to listen to when feeling down or anxious. Despite the song’s melancholic atmosphere, there is a sense of comfort as Kacey’s vulnerability allows the listener to realize they are not alone in their complicated feelings. Kacey sings about her emotional struggles during the period right before she returned to her home in New York after living in Florida.
The singer-songwriter further elaborates on the meaning and inspiration behind the song,
“I wrote this song a couple [of] months ago while I was living in FL and was getting ready to head back to NY. During this time, I was feeling really conflicted because, on one hand, I did miss my family and friends back home in Long Island, NY, but on the other hand, I LOVE FL and consider it my second home. So I was really having conflicting feelings and was really torn about it. So when I say, ‘I just really wanna go home,’ but I also say, ‘it’s gonna be hard without you,’ that’s what I’m talking about. So during this time, I had a lot on my mind and was pretty sad about it because I knew, either way, I was gonna be sad and that it was ‘inevitable.'”
Anyone needing the reminder that they aren’t alone in their confusing and conflicting feelings can find solace in the relatable lyrics, soothing vocals, and the soft instrumental of Kacey’s “Inevitable.”
Kacey released her first single, “Our Separate Ways,” earlier this year, followed by “2018 (I Miss You). “Inevitable” is the songwriter’s third single.
