KACEY Drops The Relatable “A Cliché Twenty Something”

After dropping her last single, “Inevitable,” KACEY is back with a new indie-pop song, “A Cliche Twenty Something.” It’s a song that perfectly captures the feelings of growth and experiencing new things in one’s early 20s especially.

KACEY describes the overall message of the song as,

“… being in your 20’s and what can [go] through someone’s mind during that time frame whether it be fear of the unknown or happy for the person that you’ve become and/or will be.”

Listen to “A Cliche Twenty Something” below:

Lyrically, the song tells the tale of struggles many who are in and have lived through their twenties have experienced. In the first verse, there’s the initial shock of the realization, “Turning 23 is old/ Can’t believe how much I’ve grown,” followed by, “Walking down a hall of dreams/ Don’t know which door’s meant for me/ I’ll have to wait and see.” It brings back the feelings of confusion and seemingly all the possibilities available when starting out as a young adult.

“A Cliche Twenty Something” also touches upon how quickly life passes and how one will want to slow down and take in every moment. Even then, sometimes it can feel like one is drowning in all the lessons that need to be learned, “Wish I could slow it down/ Trying to swim / But I don’t know how.” The relatable lyrics can be comforting for anyone in their 20s and as a reminder of that decade for those who have grown out of them.

KACEY released her first single, “Our Separate Ways,” in 2022, followed by “2018 (I Miss You). At the beginning of this year, she released her third single, “Inevitable,” with “A Cliche Twenty Something” being KACEY’s fourth single.
