Connecticut-based artist, Ian Matthew, is captivating audiences with a style that is uniquely his own. Recently partnered with Foundation Media, Ian is able to connect with more listeners around the world and growing his community every day. His music catalog contains a song for every mood and with over 10 singles released in 2020, he’s continuing to build that catalog with no signs of slowing down. 2021 will be a year for some of his biggest records yet.

“Letting Go” is his first single this year. It’s an emotionally charged alt-rock ballad with soulful melodies, flaming guitar riffs, and engulfing vocals. A relaxed tempo draws listeners in, supported by soft guitar strums and bodied vocals. The calm ever-so-slightly dissipates as the build-up into the chorus takes over. Drums drive some of the change but more emotion also filters into the vocals. The lyrics reveal the internal struggles the singer faces as death knocks on his door. Where do you go when you feel defeated by your mind?

The melancholy message is carried by a beautifully heartbreaking instrumental track. There’s a sadness that can be found both within the forceful vocals and the steadfast guitar riffs. Yet it’s a different kind of sadness – one that has an underlying fight. It helps listeners drown out the world around them and fully immerse in the emotions this song brings about.

“Letting Go” adds to the catalog of songs that Ian creates that allows listeners to feel what he’s saying on a very personal level. With his multi-genre approach to songs and his ability to create that personal connection, Ian Matthew is an artist to keep an eye out for.
