The East Coast alt-pop collective MICHELLE just dropped their newest 2-track single SIDE DISHES. And we are giving you an exclusive first look! The two brand new songs are called “SEA SHANTY” and “FOOL 4 U”. The single follows just a couple of months after the band’s critically-acclaimed sophomore album AFTER DINNER WE TALK DREAMS, released in March of this year. Billboard just ranked it among its Top 10 Pride Albums of 2022.
The musician power combo is reviving the sea shanty trend and we are so here for it! Let’s be real, the pirate music era of TikTok is unmatched. There is something so captivating and pleasing about the rhythmic sing-song. The mystical, layered vocal harmonies in “SEA SHANTY” is reminiscent of siren songs. This tune quickly became one of my new favorites after the first listen, now I’ve got it running on loop (who else can relate?).

MICHELLE is a POC and queer collective of 6 born-and-bred New Yorker musical geniuses, founded in 2018. Sofia D’Angelo, Julian Kaufman, Charlie Kilgore, Layla Ku, Emma Lee, and Jamee Lockard mix and match the writing and production of their music amongst the six of them. That’s what I call a group of insanely talented people who are each all-rounder talents.
