Dan Pye Showcases His Musical Prowess In His Latest Single, “Magick”

The soundscape of the 80s has been making a coming back in the past few years, and “Magick” by Dan Pye is no exception. With its incorporation of the synth, his latest single has an 80s sound but with a modern twist. Fans of music acts such as Arlie (especially the album, Break the Curse) will enjoy “Magick,” as it embodies many of the same experimental instrumentals and intriguing voice effects.

Listen to “Magick” below:

“Magick” takes the listener on a dreamy landscape full of slow snare beats, Pye’s captivating voice, and relatable lyrics. The song begins with the sharp snap of snare drums, as an instrumental made up of electronic noises that make the listener feel like they are diving into a sci-fi story.

Along with the electronic-sounding instrumental, Pye’s vocals reel the listener. Despite the heavy vocal effects, Dan Pye’s vocals still do a great job of showing the emotions of the lyrics. Pye pulls the listener in as he repeats the lyrics, “You push me up/ To bring me back down,” and “Hit me with a magic spell/ When you come to cast me out/ Hit me with a magic spell/ Then you make it personal.” It ties in with the track title, turning it into a metaphor for someone who appears to care about Pye, but in reality, they hurt him.

“Magick” is the fourth and final single released ahead of his debut EP, “Funny Way of Dying Kid.” Previous singles released in anticipation of the EP are the title track, “Funny Way of Dying Kid,” along with “Following The Dao” and “Billboard.

With upcoming show dates in the UK and his debut EP on the horizon, Dan Pye has a bright future ahead with his music career. To stay up to date with everything Dan Pye and his music, make sure to follow him on Instagram and TikTok
