It’s October once again! I know for most people that means putting on a sweater and beanie and wandering through a pumpkin patch. But here in Sacramento? That means another weekend of sweating in a hot, dusty park, thrashing to our favorite breakdowns at AFTERSHOCK 2026.
While we’re here to see all the biggest, best, and up-and-coming bands in the rock world, Aftershock has also given us plenty of new ways to take in the festival this year. Between the music, food, drinks, and all the little experiences scattered throughout Discovery Park, there’s more to explore than ever. One of the biggest additions is a brand-new FIFTH STAGE, which they’re calling The Point.
Positioned at the meeting of two rivers, The Point Stage feels like its own little world within the festival. Separated from the rest of the stages by the Jibboom Bridge, The Point is a little more relaxed and removed from the constant movement of the main festival grounds. You can actually see the rivers through the fences surrounding the area, which makes for a pretty unique backdrop while you’re watching a band or grabbing a drink.
It’s also got everything you need to settle in for a while. There’s its own food stand area, bar services, various other experiences, and, somehow, an entire sports bar.
Yes, you read that right. A fully functional sports bar in the middle of Aftershock.

Overtime Sports Bar has a plethora of TVs playing whatever live sports are happening throughout the weekend, making it the perfect place to escape the sun for a bit, grab a drink, and catch a game without actually leaving the festival. And with NFL Sunday happening during Aftershock, this is going to be a particularly good spot to post up for football fans, especially when Sunday Night Football rolls around.
The space feels very Sacramento, too. It’s decked out with flags and jerseys representing local teams, from the Kings and Niners to the A’s, Giants, and River Cats. You’ll even find Sacramento State and UC Davis gear, so pretty much every corner of the local sports world is represented.
You can grab a table, order some food and drinks, watch the game, and still be right in the middle of Aftershock. And if beer is your thing, Overtime is serving fresh draft beer from Stone Brewing, the California-based brewery. They’re also doing an exclusive Pierce the Veil-themed beer on Saturday, which will be available at bars throughout the festival, so keep an eye out for that one.

Of course, The Point isn’t just about taking a break from the music. The musical lineup here is stacked in its own right. On the first day alone, we caught Red, Apocalyptica, Nothing More, and The Pretty Reckless. And there’s plenty more coming. Friday brings Underoath and Coheed and Cambria, while Saturday will see Pentagram, Melvins, and Black Label Society take the stage.
And if you’re planning to spend Sunday posted up at The Point for football, you won’t have to sacrifice the music. Suicidal Tendencies and Body Count with Ice-T are both on the schedule, giving you another reason to stick around even after the games are over.
We’ve already spent a good chunk of today hanging out at The Point, and it’s quickly become one of those spots where you can actually slow down for a minute without feeling like you’re missing out on the festival. Grab a beer, catch a set, watch some sports, take in the river views, and recharge before heading back into the chaos.
We’ll definitely be making our way back throughout the weekend for the beer, the sports, the atmosphere, and some of our favorite bands. But The Point is just one of the new additions Aftershock has brought to Discovery Park this year, and the rest of the festival has plenty more to offer.
So we’re heading back out to explore. Check back tomorrow for more from Aftershock 2026!
