One of the world’s best-selling music artists – Adele is back with the release of her brand new single and video “Easy On Me.” “Easy On Me” which was released ahead of Adele’s newest album 30 has already amassed over 24m streams. The album is set to be released on the 19th of November. Earlier this week Adele shared the news of her new album’s release date and her inspiration with a personal note to her fans letting them know she was “finally ready to put this album out.” Within 12 hours “Easy On Me” was streamed over 12 million times and around 300,000 people watched the video premiere on YouTube.
“Easy On Me” is an emotional piano ballad that sends shivers down your spine. The video starts off in the very house where Adele’s 2015 smash single “Hello” was shot. When she sings “I changed who I was to put you both first, but now I give up” the music video transitions from black and white to full-colour to portray that she has no regrets and does not feel guilty for putting herself first. “Easy On Me” is the perfect song for anyone who’s going through loneliness or the pain of a break-up. Like her previous album titles, 30 is also a reference to a specific age in Adele’s life. When she was thirty years old she married her long-term partner and then left him.
The video for “Easy On Me” was shot last month in Quebec and directed by Xavier Dolan. “I was honestly hoping for this to happen,” noted Dolan. “For me, there’s nothing stronger than artists reconnecting after years apart. I’ve changed. Adele’s changed. And this is an opportunity to celebrate how we’ve both evolved, and how we’ve also both remained faithful to our dearest themes. It’s all the same, but different.”
