Cavetown, mxmtoon, Ricky Montgomery Collab On Single Before Bittersweet Daze Tour

Bittersweet Daze is the tour of the summer. The U.S. leg of Cavetown’s (Robbie Skinner’s) headline tour features three more beloved artists: mxmtoon (Maia), Ricky Montgomery, and grentperez. The 12-concert tour stretches across The States from July 20 through August 5. Afterward, Bittersweet Daze will take to the United Kingdom, where Cavetown will perform alongside Dodie, Alfie Templeman, Tessa Violet, and Cafuné.

Prior to the tour’s kickoff, Cavetown, mxmtoon, and Ricky Montgomery came together to craft the single “Nobody Loves Me.” The friends and longtime collaborators’ creation showcases their complementary styles with a soft, indie sound.

[“Nobody Loves Me”] is a reflection of each of the writers’ personalities distilled into one form: Cavetown’s DIY digital wizardry, Maia’s saccharine half-talking melancholy, and my own obsessive compulsion and analog worship. I don’t think there are many songs in the world that have an omnichord straight out of Adventure Time and a 130-year-old piano. But this one does.

“”Nobody Loves Me” opens with humming and gentle strumming — it’s comforting in its croons. Though it’s easy to feel unloved with distance or separation, when you’re with the person you love, it is all-consuming and reminds you of the affection that exists around you.

Eventually, the song turned into a kind of ballad about having no object permanence around love, as in if you’re not currently being shown love, you may forget that you are. Working with Maia and Ricky on this song was such a long time coming, and I love how it turned out. Singing this live together at Bittersweet Daze this summer is going to be so much fun!

There are still four more Bittersweet Daze dates left in the United States on the East Coast from August 1 through 5. Check ticket availability online for the concert collaboration of a lifetime — and to see “Nobody Loves Me” live.

It’s not every day you get to come together with a couple friends and try to make a song together. It’s even more rare for you to be able to tour with those friends, and I am beyond lucky that I get to do both with Robbie and Ricky. “Nobody Loves Me” is for people who forget how loved they are when the people they care about aren’t right in front of them. I would dare to say that, as songwriters, all three of us are experts on this specific topic!

Also, for every ticket sold, Bittersweet Daze donates $1 to the This Is Home Project. This project, started by Cavetown, raises money to support other foundations dedicated to supporting and providing resources to LGBTQ+ youth in need.

Can’t get enough of this trio? Anxiously awaiting a Bittersweet Daze tour date, or want to live vicariously through the internet? Understandable. Connect with Cavetown on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok. mxmtoon is on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitch, and you can find Ricky Montgomery on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok, too.
