Troye Sivan released a music video for his most recent single, “Rush.” The track comes ahead of his third studio album release on October 13, Something To Give Each Other. Though the official tracklist is unconfirmed, the album is speculated to be a compilation of recent singles amounting to ten.
A global pop music icon, Sivan has garnered attention in fashion and television for his sense of style and LGBTQI+ representation. Naturally, his newest song “Rush” is no exception, celebrating sex, dance, queerness and love.
The singer manages to write lyrics that are sensual, evoking euphoria and pleasure. This isn’t impressionable only through reading the words or singing along. The driving rhythm and playful vocals come together to create a fresh and liberating song for the summer.
“Rush” is the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dancefloor, a 2-hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party, after party after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that.
– Troye Sivan
So good when we slow gravity, so good
It’s so good, it’s so good
Breathe one, two, three, take all of me, so good
It’s so good, it’s so good– “Rush”
The music video does justice to the song and its lyrics, matching the energy. The entire length of the video touches on desire, gaze and fluidity; it also shows lots of skin. Whether it’s dancing or drinking or making out, Sivan sings about the feeling and drops any other conditions.
Troye Sivan is still in the midst of promoting “Rush” and feeling all the love from listeners. Sivan still has yet to delight fans with news of concert dates or festival appearances. Still, do make sure to check out the rest of his discography on Spotify and follow the artist on Instagram.
