“Please Don’t Go,” Gil Isaac – Your New Release Is Outstanding

On January 10th, Israeli singer-songwriter Gil Isaac released his outstanding new track, “Please Don’t Go.” The title of this review betrays my thoughts on it, but my god. This song is incredible. It sounds like if FKJ and Glass Animals teamed up to write a song about a failing relationship. The electronic elements are handled perfectly, the guitar work is incredible, and the vocal performance sounds just like Dave Bayley at his best.

According to Gil Isaac, “‘Please Don’t Go’ illustrates and tells the process [sic] of gaining clarity in a love story that is accompanied by uncertainty and disappointment.” This story is told in incredible fashion throughout the lyrics, but even the instrumental gives away this sentiment. This idea of conversations about the future leading to fear instead of “magic” is part of the instrumental and the production.

The song even follows this lyrical motif within the musical structure. The song starts off with a sense of whimsicality and these childlike bells that set the stage, but by the end, everything has given way to a beautiful mix of guitars, synthesizers, and a sense of dread that has set in as the song is coming to a close. It’s just incredible stuff.

Gil Isaac is set to release his first album in February (according to his Spotify bio), so be sure to check out “Please Don’t Go” below and get hyped for that! The vibes are immaculate here, and I’m sure there are more vibes to come.

Obsessed with all things music. Finished that MFA, so now I’m apparently a master of this. Bouncing around state borders, going wherever. If you see me at a show, say hey!
