300 Elektra Artists Receive 18 Grammy Nominations
300 Elektra Entertainment picked up 18 Grammy nominations at the upcoming 65th annual Grammy Awards, to be hosted in February of the next year. 300 Elektra’s roster is large and diverse, as present in the range of nominations their artists have received. These artists consist of different genres, styles and palettes from hip hop to indie rock to Americana.
300 Elektra effectively formed on June 22nd of this year, when 300 Entertainment and Elektra Music Group merged together. Both of these label’s form under Warner Label, which means that 300 Elektra acts as an umbrella record label group for them. The label’s new logo sees the logos of its core groups mashed together. After combining forces, the umbrella record group’s roster features artists such as Saint Motel, Turnstile, Anderson Paak, Gunna, Young Thug and Meg the Stallion.
300 Elektra’s 18 nominations span across a number of genres. Mary J Blige, famously known as the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul” racked up six nominations. Her album Good Morning Gorgeous received nominations for “Album of the Year” and “Best R&B” album. The titular track on the album received nods for “Record of the Year,” “Best Traditional R&B Performance,” and “Best R&B Song.” “Here With Me”, her collaboration with Anderson Paak received a nomination for “Best R&B Performance.” These nominations bring Mary J Blige’s total nominations throughout her career to an astounding thirty-seven, with seven wins present among them.
Singer songwriter Brandi Carlile managed to top Mary J Blige, as she notched seven nominations. “Broken Horses” picked up two nominations for“Best Rock Song” and “Best Rock Performance.” Her joint collaboration with Lucis, “You and Me on the Rock” was nominated for Record of the Year,” “Best American Roots Song,” and “Best Americana Performance.” Her album, In These Silent Days was considered for “Album of the Year” and “Best Americana Album.”
Gunna picked up a few nods for his song, “Pushin P”, which had the entire world in a chokehold at a point. Along with Future and Young Thug, Gunna was considered for Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song.”
Rock band Turnstile picked up their first ever Grammy nominations. The Maryland band received nominations for “Best Rock Song” and “Best Rock Performance,” with “Holiday”, while “Blackout” received consideration for “Best Metal Performance.
