In honor of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th, Said the Sky, Olivver the Kid and Levi the Poet partnered with To Write Love on Her Arms and Songs That Saved My Life to amplify the conversation and reverse the growing rate of suicide. The three worked together to release a song, titled “Worth Living For.”
Each year, more than 800,000 people die from suicide. Too often, the feelings of shame and stigma prevent those who need help from seeking it. September is Suicide Prevention Month – it’s a month to shine a light on this difficult, yet very real, topic. This is a month dedicated to sharing resources, raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and starting the conversation.
To create something truly beautiful, Said the Sky asked fans to share moments that make their life worth living. Over 1000 submissions were sent in and while not all of them could be fit into the video, this is what was made with some of those moments.
This song is just one way to start the conversation. More resources, including where to find help if you or someone you know is struggling, are available on TWLOHA.
All proceeds from the song’s streams will benefit TWLOHA, a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. If there ever was a release to play on repeat, this is it. It will only help.
If you or someone you know needs immediate help, you can call 1-800-233-8255 (TALK) or text HOME to 741741.
You are loved. You are not alone. You are worth living for.
