WE ARE GETTING A SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA AND IKEA FURNITURE COLLECTION
You didn’t read the title wrong, IKEA is getting a little more Swedish, which we didn’t think was possible (meatballs anyone?). A new furniture collection called OBEGRÄNSAD created by EDM Grammy-nominated trio music group Swedish House Mafia. The collection has over 20 pieces including interior solutions and accessories designed for up and coming music producers, DJs, and all creators who want to set up shop at home. The collection was revealed at the IKEA Festival in Milan in the 2022 design week. The feature had three key pieces from the collection: an armchair, a desk and a record player. The word OBEGRÄNSAD is Swedish for the word “unlimited” and is aimed at the target group for this collection. The furniture was created for those with a limited budget but with an unlimited passion for creation. Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child, your bank account will not break when purchasing these pieces. If you enjoy making music in the comfort of your home and saving a pretty penny this is the collection for you.

Swedish House Mafia
The desk has two speaker stands in order to bring the music to ear level and has a pull out shelf below the desktop for the functionality of a midi keyboard. The arm chair was designed with the intention of representing the balance of form and function that is central for this collaboration. With its minimalistic and adjustable straps to chair helps strengthen the comfort level one needs to tap into their creative side. James Futcher, the creative leader at IKEA of Sweden says that armchairs are a place to unwind and it should set you into a creative flow and this chair really manifests the importance of comfort. One of the best things to be featured is the record player. Music has been around for centuries and this design connects us to timeless happiness of listening to music through vinyls. The record player has a sleek minimal design and it pairs perfectly with IKEA’s ENEBY speaker.
The reveal comes before the release of the band’s new debut album Paradise Again and has a wide range of collaborators and guests including A$AP Rocky, Sting, Ty Dolla $ign and The Weeknd. In August, the trio will be heading out on a massive global tour with supporting acts Alesso, ZHU, Grimes, Vintage Culture and Kaytranada. Great musicians and now acclaimed furniture designers that is something we never expected to say.
