Troll Dolly’s “Microcosms” Instills Fresh Experience with Experimental Sound
A solo project of drummer, Jen Yakamovich, Troll Dolly is an experimental and psychedelic experience of freak folk. With lyrics sweet and rich of poetry, its no wonder this artist doesn’t soar beyond the soundscapes of their creation into a world of their own, and not return from it. The wonder her works create a sense of in her vivid creations are an experience of their own.
“Microcosms” is the third release toward the artist’s upcoming debut EP, Heaven’s Mini Mart, produced in Cedar, Vancouver Island. The track is a collage of its own. Beginning with a subtle fade in of the first verse. Each lyric takes the forefront of the sonic experience, in its summery warmth of smooth, acoustic guitar, electronic guitars, and heavenly harmonizing vocals. All the sounds come together, in unity, a microcosm of their own, as the lyrics describe all the little things that slowly build in anticipation, then explode into an intense oblivion. What these “little things” that build and build are, however, remain fairly up to interpretation; whether its from a relationship or another personal experience. And in it is the true art and masterpiece of the track itself.
