NIPSEY HUSSLE’S LEGACY LIVES ON WITH NEW DOCUMENTARY “THE MARATHON (CULTIVATION)”
Emerging from the West Coast hip-hop scene in the early 2000s, Nipsey Hussle is one of the eminent American rappers of this generation. Today, his extraordinary legacy lives on along many avenues, most recently in a documentary. The Marathon (Cultivation) is a feature-length film that celebrates the life and entrepreneurial career of the late rapper, and the challenges that he and his brother faced as they grew a multi-million dollar cannabis business.
The Marathon (Cultivation) premiered Friday May 20th at an exclusive rooftop screening in Los Angeles’ new The Marathon Clothing store No. 2. Well-timed, the documentary precedes The Marathon (Collective), a premier THC and CBD retail store set to officially open its doors at 7011 Canoga Avenue in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 18. The film debuted on YouTube, and you can watch it now below.
Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedomis is keeping his brother’s legacy alive by telling this story. “This is something we always spoke about Nipsey, Fatts, Adam, and I had a goal to get a legitimate licensed store and have our brand in other stores across the state. We’re so honored to be able to fulfill the dream,” he says of the film.

The Marathon (Cultivation) focuses on the creation of the brothers’ acclaimed Marathon OG strain, produced by The Cure Company and hailed by High Times as “a favorite among long-time smokers that enjoy a heavy-hitting Indica.” Friends and cameos (like Snoop Dogg) color the film as it follows the brothers on their epic business venture.
The premiere of The Marathon (Cultivation) was met by high profile media attention including High Times, REVOLT, Hip Hop DX, and more. “You can almost smell the screen,” wrote High Times.
