Tishmal, meaning “hummingbird” in Luiseño, is the debut solo project of Rachel Brockbank. The name was given to her as a little girl, around when she began to write music; and in taking the name as her own embraces the language of her Native American heritage.

As she rises in the music industry- opening for CHVRCHES, Zara Larsson, The Aces, Hippie Sabotage, and XYLØ- her own unique brand of electro pop is brooding and poetic as it finds its own home for fans of Lorde and Tove Lo. Starting 2021 on a high, Tishmal featured on Kaskade’s dance hit “New James Dean” as well as doing an exclusive live session with Free People. Tishmal will be reaching new heights this summer, releasing original music in collaboration with producer Christian Medice.

“Bodies” is one of these singles. And while it soars through the ears like flight itself, we feel the song’s words whisper in the winds. The beat crunches on its own, as Tishmal expresses her emotions in perfect poetry. The lyrics express the intimacy and connection between two souls, the longing to “carve you for out my own.” This deeply intimate connection is addictive, alluring, and burns hot like flame.

When a relationship is this real and this connective, Tishmal’s words emerge the perfect feelings and put words to what can be so difficult to describe.
