Los Angeles post-punk band Provoker announced their debut LP Body Jumper, set for release on August 13. The record is a concept album with each song sung from the perspective of a different character; their new single “Rose In A Glass” is from the perspective of a private investigator searching for a missing person. Despite the depressing outlook, a common theme in the group’s work, the song has more of a tense and anxious energy than a hopeless one.

The band was formed by Jonathon Lopez as a solo vehicle for film score composition, but he eventually partnered with singer and writer Christian Petty. Releasing a couple of EPs over the last several years and relocating from the Bay Area to Los Angeles, they solidified a style of dark, R&B-influenced post-punk driven by synths and falsetto vocals.

After Body Jumper’s release, the group will embark on a series of tour dates across the US and UK through the end of 2021. They will play a series of August and September shows and festivals as a headliner in New York, LA, and Chicago, as well as a slew of shows across Texas, before a co-headlining run through the western US with Aussie garage-rockers Death Bells in November. Provoker will finish up the year with dates supporting Stockholm post-punk band Viagra Boys on their December tour of the UK.
