Travis Rue is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who goes by the moniker The Satellite Station. He is known for his haunting folk-inspired melodies and emotionally charged lyrics. He incorporates storytelling into his songs to share his perspective on life and the challenges and joys of being human.

His newest release is an acoustic EP, Simple Miracles, which features three new songs, a cover of The Cure‘s “Lovesong,” and this lovely rework of his most popular song to date, “Shelter.” While his original version was more of a big-room production with resounding instrumental swells, his acoustic version is, of course, stripped-down and draws more attention to the touching vocals.

Keeping a similar tempo, Travis gives the single a more emotive spin, not that it was lacking in emotion before. A steady piano and guitar instrumental pairing complements the affectionate tone in his vocals. We still hear the same heartwarming love as the original, but with a more simple production, the passionate message comes across ten-fold and the world seems to slow down a bit for the song. For those who haven’t heard the original, the message is one that is romantically comforting. The lyrics traverse an eternal love that is promised by a protective statement.

You can listen to this rework as well as the rest of Simple Miracles (The Acoustic EP) below.
