It’s officially confirmed! After an announcement made on January 31st, The Black Keys are back and ready to hit the road for 2022’s Dropout Boogie Tour. Following a three-year hiatus since the support of 2019’s album Let’s Rock, the group is set to conquer North America again with a string of show dates. Beginning on July 9th in Las Vegas, the tour will span 32 cities before ending in Dallas, Texas, on October 18th.
No Stranger to openers, The Akron Rockers will be accompanied by Band of Horses, for the entire leg of the tour. To add to the fun, Ceramic Animal, Early James, and The Velveteers will make cameo appearances periodically throughout The Black Keys excursion. Starting with Ceramic Animal first from July 9th-30th, the spotlight will go onto Early James second from August 24nd-September 9th and end with The Velveteer’s from October 2nd-18th.
We were doing all these songs from memory… We just recorded this stuff for fun. We never even thought about it as being an album
Dan Auerbach on Writing “Delta Kream”
To add to the hype, this coming tour will most likely focus on supporting 2021’s cover album, Delta Kream (although not confirmed). A homage to blues acts that inspired the band in their youth, songs by R.L. Burnside, John Lee Hooker and Junior Kimbrough make an appearance on the L.P. This callback to the rock act’s blues roots is fantastic to see and will be a crowd-pleaser to any fan of their earlier work, such as The Big Come Up, Thickfreakness, and Rubber Factory.
