The Authenticity of Marzoña’s “Window Shopping”
An upbeat track going back to his pop-rock roots, Marzoña’s latest single, “Window Shopping,” allows the listener to travel back to Marzoña’s high school days both lyrically and through experimenting with the song’s soundscape. Compared to Martin Luke Brown’s “elsie,” which showcases the more bittersweet side of childhood nostalgia, “Window Shopping” reminds the listener of how much fun it can be to remember one’s roots and even use them as inspiration moving forward.

As Marzoña further explains,
“I wrote “Window Shopping” in ~2 hours, trying to recreate my high school pop-rock writing style. I reminisce about a date (or was it?) walking along Rodeo Drive, and reference Pretty Woman plenty of times. The music video that’ll be released alongside portrays the dreamlike and wistful nature of the lyrics, and evokes a 50’s aesthetic. This is my first release in 2+ years, and I can’t wait to share it with all my friends and people around the world who are looking for a good song to rock out to!”
“Window Shopping” starts with a drum count-off, followed by a catchy guitar riff, before Marzoña joins in with his vocals. Vocally, Marzoña has a character to his voice similar to Andrew Barth Feldman on “Archie’s All-American,” but with a rock edge versus a musical theater tone. It brings a more genuine feeling to his storytelling, which can typically get lost in many tracks with a happy-go-lucky vibe, like “Window Shopping.” Yet, Marzoña excels at maintaining this authenticity in his music and creating a song sure to get the listener grooving.
Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Marzoña released his first EP, Flower Girl, in 2014. Since then, the musician has worked on multiple music projects but is now embarking on his solo journey again. Marzoña is sure to get your toes tapping and hands clapping as he combines hip-hop rhythms and melodies with a rock and indie style.
