Joe Iconis Releases New Single, “Archie’s All-American,” In Anticipation of Album
Joe Iconis (known for his musical Be More Chill), is back again with his new single, “Archie’s All-American,” which features Andrew Barth Feldman (Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway), on vocals. The single was inspired by Archie Comics, and showcases Iconis’ songwriting abilities in the indie-rock and power-pop genre. Iconis’ storytelling and strong character building skills are apparent as “Archie” sings about how he is in a great place right now, yet is still struggling while on the brink of adulthood.

“Archie’s All-American,” is one of the singles on Joe Iconis’ recently announced 44-track album, simply titled Album. The album features over 70 collaborators that Iconis has worked with, including Aaron Tveit, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Krysta Rodriguez, Kerry Butler, Danny Burstein, Annie Golden, George Salazar, Will Roland and more. Iconis stated that he wants Album to have the same feel as the “Iconis and Family” live shows that took place before the pandemic.
As Iconis explains,
“Over the last thirteen years, the gang and I have performed hundreds of gigs in New York City and beyond. Those songs have existed in fan-filmed YouTube videos, live captures and… that’s it. Until now. It has long been a dream of mine to follow-up our debut album with one that felt impossibly huge and really captured the ‘we’re all in this together’ vibe of an Iconis and Family live show. When the pandemic hit, I became obsessed with making a piece of art that connected as many human beings as possible. I wanted to connect the artists in the room with each other and then connect the art we made to the listeners.”
Along with the multitudes of talent on the album, there is a sprawling scope of intimate subject matter showcasing Iconis’ ability to find moments of drama in the seemingly mundane. Gentle acoustic love ballads sit next to indie-rock stadium shout-alongs on an album that is both sweetly nostalgic and explosively contemporary.
The announcement of Album was accompanied by the release of its title track. Along with “Archie’s All-American” and “Album,” two other already released tracks include “Ammonia” featuring Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show]) and “Kevin” featuring Andrew Ranells (Book of Mormon and Big Mouth). Album drops on June 17, 2022 via Ghostlight Records (a division of Warner Music Group).
