Four years after Tame Impala’s last sensational album, Currents, the band has announced their newest and long-awaited album: The Slow Rush. Released with the announcement was a new single, “It Might Be Time”, which features wailing synth sirens and sudden pauses accompanied by a chorus that rings, “It might be time to face it… it ain’t as fun as it used to be, no you’re going under, you ain’t as young as you used to be…”, which seems to be a reference to how the band’s lead singer, Kevin Parker, might be feeling after the four year-long hiatus, especially after the later chorus line, “ you ain’t as cool as you used to be.” The band’s popularity sky-rocketed after Lonerism, taking them from a psychedelic indie favorite to an internationally famous rock band. After the seemingly over-night fame the band acquired, it seems that Parker may have been wrestling with inner doubts since the release of Currents. Thankfully for fans, it appears that Kevin has shaken this mindset and used it to create a new studio album. The Slow Rush, is set to be released in February 2020 on Valentine’s Day. Tame Impala have also announced tour dates in 2020, with openers including Clairo and MGMT.
