Sara Kays Has Us Longing For An Ex-Love In “Miss Me The Same (with Anson Seabra)”
Sara Kays sits perched on a rooftop next to Anson Seabra, the two not looking at each other as they sing about what could have been. The newly released music video for “Miss Me The Same (with Anson Seabra)” covers the longing that comes with the aftermath of a lost love.
And are you wishing hard
On every shooting star
Thinking if we tried again, would it be better?
I know we’ve gone our different ways
But do you miss me the same?
~ “Miss Me The Same”
The tension between two exes, side by side but split up, is heartbreaking. It’s a reminder of the good times that are no longer a possibility. Kays and Seabra first sing separately before coming together in a beautiful harmony.
It’s a song about being on the other side of a breakup and feeling like there’s still something there … that vague but potent feeling that maybe on some nights your ex is somewhere looking up at the moon thinking of you too.

Kays’ signature style of brilliantly poetic yet sad lyricism comforts those grieving a relationship they felt ended too soon. Even if you delete the pictures and texts and keep busy with new places and new people, the memories remain. Kays sings she “thought [she] did everything [she] was supposed to do,” but she still feels stuck and that moving on is hard.
The song is about feeling like you’re doing all the right things to move on from someone, but not being able to stop thinking about the other person and wondering if they’re feeling the same.

The singer-songwriter also recently released “Bored,” building her discography with authentic tracks about her experiences ranging from breakups to mental health. Her dedicated fanbase of more than 3 million monthly Spotify listeners knows to go to Kays when they want a song that expresses the thoughts they can’t quite put into words.

I recently had the privilege of writing a song with Anson Seabra that we both loved and immediately knew we wanted to release. I’ve been such a fan of his music for a while, and we’ve been trying to collaborate on something for a couple of years now, so I’m stoked it’s finally happening!
