We joined Sara Kays in her home base, Nashville– fresh off her first ever tour since the release of her debut EP, Struck By Lightning. Garnering hundreds of millions of streams worldwide since her debut in 2018, she’s rising in the music scene with her cathartic offerings and laid back personality.
Many have described Sara as “that one friend you have who actually listens and watches as much as she speaks.” Our impression of her rang true to this statement as we chatted with her. With free time consisting of thrift-shopping and family hangs, her passion for music runs rampant through her blood. Beginning at age twelve, Sara continued to hone her craft throughout high school by busking on the streets for hours on end. And since joining the studio and releasing her honest and heartfelt messages to the world, her rise to stardom is only just beginning. We shared a mutual love for Brendan Urie and his angelic vocals, seated on cool blue leather within the heart of Nashville. And we chatted together as the sun started setting. From there, she opened up about her story behind writing Struck By Lightning.
