Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet Heats Up The Dance Floor With ‘Work It’

“Work” is a part of our history whether we admit it or not. In fact, it’s one of the pillars of every civilization ever established – a bind that binds us all. Starting off from the Paleolithic Era with Cave People up till this day with us folks, everything we experience is a product of someone else’s work. In a way we’re standing on the shoulder of hard working giants, as the saying goes.Every effort made is a significant drop in the big bucket of life, pushing all of us forward.

With technology being ever present in our workspaces, doing work has been easier than ever. But does it really? Enter Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet with their latest song ‘Work It’. A funky track that takes a look at the intricate relationship of humans and machines. Released last March 3rd via We Are Stardust in all major streaming services.‘Work It’ is commentary about how often times devices (computers, smart phones etc) designed to assist, are the same ones who ends up beleaguering us.

This isn’t to say that these modern comforts are evil. Rather Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet wants us to see that this dependence we have is dangerous. We’ve lost that autonomy to rule our lives entirely, because we’ve delegated tasks to lifeless objects. So much so that we can’t function fully without our laptop, smart phones or what have you. We’ve gone too far astray that we’ve allowed lifeless beings to be able to start “Telling me what to wear. Telling me how to behave.”, as the lyrics say. With it comes that crippling feeling of emptiness and a defeated admittance that “I Don’t Know How To Live”.

While Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet’ ‘Work It’ has that dark premise to it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see it all wrapped up in this one groovy firecracker. Where it should be drab and gloomy because of the m topic tackled, they turn a corner and make it extra vibrant. Through the excitable vocals, instrumentals, beat and rhythms it brings. You’ll feel this pump of energy straight through your veins compelling you to ‘Work It’ on the dance floor. It’s a strange choice, but it lends to the genius of Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet. That is to be able to dance even in the most uncomfortable situations. Not to make light of the situation, but to find a joy where there is none and work through it.
