Queen Naija and Big Sean’s “Hate Our Love” Is A Tribute To The Defiance Of Love
Looking for a love song that’s perfect for those laid-back summer nights? Then check out Queen Naija’s new single, “Hate Our Love” ft. Big Sean. Fans of the 90’s and early 2000’s R&B will enjoy the song’s beat along with Queen Naija’s bright and airy vocals. Big Sean’s feature brings a more modern hip hop feel to the track, giving the track a nostalgic feel with a modern edge.
“Hate Our Love” is about overcoming issues from past relationships, toxic habits, or jealous exes, to falling in love and be happy in the relationship. The lyrics touch upon ignoring jealous exes, especially in Big Sean’s rap, “Dead your exes/ Don’t let them haunt you,” and as Queen Naija sings, “When we make up/ They hate our love/ Want to see us fall/ They want to see us fall/ They be hating on us/ Wishing we would fall.” With Big Sean featuring in the song, it brings a back and forth of two people in a relationship as they realize how special the other person is to them.
The music video starts in black and white, with DJ Envy talking about ”Hate Our Love” before playing it while cutting to scenes of Queen Naija sitting on a couch in the window of her apartment. Then it switches to Big Sean sitting outside a New York City brownstone apartment during his opening rap, and halfway through, the scene turns from black and white to color. After Big Sean finishes his opening, the music video focuses on Queen Naija and cuts between her and Big Sean as she sings.
