Today, Singer-songwriter and producer PVRIS (Lyndsey Gunnulfsen) released her brand new album, EVERGREEN. This is the first full-length release from PVRIS since 2020’s Use Me, which has since received over 100 million streams on Spotify. Gunnulfsen had previously released 6 singles off the 11-track album including “GOOD ENEMY” and “GODDESS.”
The album tells a story from start to finish, letting us into some of the deepest and darkest parts of Gunnulfsen’s mind while simultaneously making us want to dance. Grappling with control, fame, love, and womanhood, Gunnulfsen manages to make at least one song on the record relatable to anyone who listens.
The album starts off incredibly strong with “I DON’T WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE.” The frustration that comes with being stuck in a situation you know is wrong is something we have all felt before. Possibly speaking to her experience in the music industry or having to constantly prove herself in a patriarchal world, Gunnulfsen perfectly encapsulates the idea of “female rage.”
“GOOD ENEMY” is one of many singles that was released over the past few months, yet the track sounds even better in the context of the record. The grungy guitar that shapes the song creates a perfect angsty track about realizing you may be your own worst enemy. “GODDESS” is an upbeat empowering track about taking your control back for yourself. It’s impossible not to dance to this song (especially when she keeps repeating “dance, goddess, dance”), so get ready to have fun and love yourself with this new anthem.
PVRIS bends several genres over the next few tracks, switching between electronic, rock, punk, and pop to keep us all guessing what’s next. “ANIMAL” fittingly follows the previous track, proving that Gunnulfsen is unable to be tamed. “HYPE ZOMBIES” leans into a darker rock side with a muddy guitar line running throughout the song.
“TAKE MY NIRVANA” has my favorite bridge of the album, repeating “made it this far, so can’t stop running, not gonna let you take this.” The song was produced by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, helping make the track sound like a classic 2000s alternative rock song. “SENTI-MENTAL” is a more indie-pop track about going through a transitional period in your life where you’re losing a lot of what you used to know.
“ANYWHERE BUT HERE” and “LOVE IS A…” are two slower tracks that let Gunnulfsen’s vocals shine. “HEADLIGHTS” is a song for when you’re stuck in your head and feel like you are spiraling from anxiety. The song repeats, “Is it in my mind, yeah, it’s in my mind,” for those times when we can’t stop overthinking.
“At its core, “ANYWHERE BUT HERE” is about wanting to escape your surroundings. I think a lot of us experience that to some degree, a longing to be somewhere or with someone you can’t necessarily identify.”

Last, but absolutely not least, is the title track of the album, “EVERGREEN.” The track is about reclaiming your identity and accepting being different from others while still wishing for more. PVRIS has been fighting her entire career to be given a spot in the male-dominated music industry, and this final track has definitely solidified her spot. Gunnelfsen shows amazing lyricism and production through the entire album, making PVRIS truly “evergreen.”
PVRIS will be co-headlining the Godless/Goddess tour alongside pop and rock artist Poppy. She will also be touring this summer as part of Sad Summer Festival and supporting Fall Out Boy on select EU/UK dates.
