Having sold out gigs across London, Brighton, and Norwich without revealing exactly who or what they really are, the Norwich-dwelling duo, PleasureInc., have proven shortly after beginning that their focus is about much more than just the music. With a unique blend of alternative pop, their hook-ridden melodies offer a highly anticipated sound by their quickly rising fan base. And while they have a unique brand craved by their audience, it’s the world that Jonny Silver and Kenny Pleasures have crafted around them that keeps drawing people in. Just look at their 3800+ Instagram followers or their prime spot at Wild Paths Festival 2021 – the duo’s allure is real, and fans are locked in.
Taking inspiration from pioneering hip hop storytellers– like Tyler, The Creator, Slowthai and Childish Gambino as well as indie masters Damon Albarn and The Strokes– PleasureInc. have not only perfected a knack for creating infectious pop songs, but are able to intertwine these with a rich, diverse range of musical backdrops, picking from jazz, indie, hip hop and dance influences.
The group’s debut single, “Money Talks,” showcases a tongue-in-cheek display regarding obsession with materialism and constant communication. Combining their musical inspirations with the lyrical themes of money, influence, and their effect on ego and relationships, the track is a melody many can relate to, all while being a fantastical display of those concepts all at once. The track’s accompanying music video shows the pair’s bold sense of style and personality, and to no surprise it’s caught the attention of dedicated fans. To think that these guys are only getting started. The single is out now, as their first official release, and they’re sure to rise all the more in their fame before the year is out.
