Party Favor and DeathbyRomy Team Up for New Single, “Hollow”
Party Favor’s full studio album RESET finally came out everywhere on June 17th, 2022! The final single before the album’s release, “Hollow,” sees Party Favor teaming up with DeathbyRomy to deliver a brooding and euphoric experience of epic proportions. Party Favor (Dylan Ragland) creates a dark, dystopian beat that slowly builds throughout the song, incorporating aspects of rock music as well as sprinkling in high-pitched, distorted bursts of sound that are reminiscent of the arcade game Galaga.
Ragland comments on his latest single, saying, “To me this song perfectly encapsulates the entire album. It’s haunting, it’s dark, it’s big, but there’s still an element of fun in it. In a way I was inspired by the tones and subject matter of 90’s rock. It’s the darker side of the coin that ‘Save Me’ lives on. Once I had most of the ideas down, Romy came in and delivered the most perfect and badass vocal for this song to tie a little black bow on it.” DeathbyRomy’s vocals on this track are truly badass. Her hauntingly gorgeous vocal performance on “Hollow” draws listeners in and makes them feel the hollowness that Romy’s lyrics address.
On the lyrics of “Hollow” DeathbyRomy adds, “The lyrics touch on my own willingness to numb that dark side within me that I’d rather not face, which I feel many can relate to…..it’s easier to suppress than allow the pain to surface. But the comfort one can find within themselves through tough times is the most powerful of all, and that’s what this track is about.”
