Outside Lands Announces Schedule And 2022 Mobile App

Outside Lands has announced their 2022 schedule and mobile app release! With the festival only four days away (!!!), it’s time to go through each of the insanely difficult overlaps that always come with festival scheduling. Of course, some of these might just be difficult for us, but that’s the beauty of festivals, isn’t it?

Friday – Dayglow vs. Washed Out vs. Oliver Tree

How do you choose between an up-and-coming star, the “godfather of chillwave,” or a local artist who is well-known for his live shows and insane energy? We don’t know, but we hope to figure out a way by Friday!

Friday – Disclosure vs. Phoebe Bridgers vs. SZA

This one feels like a personal attack. While my love and adoration for Phoebe Bridgers is well-documented, few people know that I’ve been a SZA fan since 2015. Her Lollapalooza set that year was exceptional, Ctrl was one of the best albums of 2017, and her near-silence has been deafening for me. As for Disclosure, who wouldn’t want to spend a Friday night dancing at Sutro with thousands of their closest friends? This decision will surely come down to the wire.

Saturday – Sam Fender vs. Zoe Wees vs. Robert Glasper

We have reviewed work from all three of these artists, and there is almost no way they can be considered similar in any way other than their absolute virtuosity. All three are among the best in their genres. All three are coming off of exceptional releases. All three are considered “can’t miss,” and they’re all at the same time. What will we do? Only one way to find out!

Saturday – Parcels vs. Rina Sawayama

Both will be dance parties. Both will be full of funky grooves, insane vocals, and astounding musical ability. Whatever you choose, know that you made the right choice. There is no “wrong” when it comes to Parcels and Rina Sawayama.

Sunday – Pusha T vs. Wet Leg

A solidified rap icon or an up-and-coming indie rock duo. “Diet Coke” or “Chaise Longue.” Pusha T or Wet Leg. A difficult choice to be made here. Thankfully, they’re at Lands End and Sutro respectively, so they aren’t too far from each other. Maybe stand in the middle and hear an insane mashup?

Sunday – Post Malone vs. Illenium vs. Mitski

This one doesn’t need much of an explanation. Just know we’re going to keep it down to the wire on this one as well before making a decision.

Be sure to download the mobile app for easy updates on-site, and follow along here for our coverage of Outside Lands 2022 (especially if you’re curious about which decisions we’ll make regarding these overlaps)!

Obsessed with all things music. Finished that MFA, so now I’m apparently a master of this. Bouncing around state borders, going wherever. If you see me at a show, say hey!
