It’s bad bitch o’clock! The queen of pop, body positivity and viral TikTok trends has officially announced today’s release of her highly-anticipated new album, SPECIAL, available everywhere now via Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic Records HERE. It seems like Lizzo is on a never-ending upward track to success, she is a woman with a mission and no one can stop her.  After conquering the red carpet at the MET, designing her own lingerie brand, dominating the Emmy, filming her own documentary, and singing her way into our hearts. Lizzo has also been working to serve new fire tracks. So, whip out your flute and put on your sexy pants because we are about to party through the rest of this summer. All we need is Lizzo to pump us up and maybe one or two shots in our cup won’t hurt. Thank you Lizzo for saving us from the dreaded “end of summer blues” and instead gifting us with our new obsession.

The new album SPECIAL includes the two new killer tracks that you might have already heard during one of her many promotional TV concerts:  “2 B Loved (Am I Ready),” and the uplifting title track “Special”. This morning we got an early taste of these bangers, as Lizzo introduced both songs with a celebratory live performance as part of NBC’s 2022 “Citi Concert Series on TODAY.” That’s definitely a way to start your morning right.

Fast-paced, energetic, and pumped with attitude. “2 B Loved (Am I Ready)” has all the characteristic Lizzo elements but a surprising soft side. The usually so self-confident powerhouse is facing a tough question as she asks herself if she is ready to be loved. We aren’t used to seeing this vulnerable side of her, and it just makes her all the more lovable. A true icon is not afraid to face her deepest fears and face her inner demons. Our queen is out here spitting poetry in the purest form with lines like:

“How am I supposed to lovе somebody else (Shee, shee, shee)
Whеn I don’t like myself? Like, ooh
Guess I better learn to like this, ooh (True)
It might take my whole life just to do (Damn)”

Literally, every single person on the planet has had these exact same thoughts at some point in their lives. Lizzo might be a crazy, stunning pop goddess but with this song, she proves that she is just a mere mortal like us. But like with everything she does, the main message that shines through this song is to put away your dark thoughts and learn to accept yourself.

This song is the crown jewel of the eponymous album. The steady beat with the almost rap-like character of the singing creates a stimulating flow that instantly captivates you. In her song, Lizzo processes the daily struggle with online hate she faces as the cost of her enormous fame.  She calls out to remind every single one of us that “you are special”. And heck yes besties each and every one of us are rockstars and worthy! Lizzo is the leader of a new generation of healed, emancipated, and powerful people. Sing along to “special” and make this song your new daily mantra.

As the official ambassador for self-love and big girly confidence, Lizzo is celebrating a whopping six Emmy Award nominations for her #1 Amazon Prime Video Reality TV series Watch Out For The Big Grrrlsstreaming now via Prime Video. If you haven’t binged all of the series in one go, then it’s about damn time.

“We didn’t do this for awards, we did this for ourselves. For the lives we touched making this… To shake up the industry… and show the world how BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED WE AREEEEE!”

And how can we not talk about Lizzo’s most dazzling performance (quite literally)? She earned worldwide applause for her live concert of “About Damn Time” kicking off last month’s 2022 BET Awards (streaming HERE). That golden glitter disco ball suit?! My girl is making MOVES.
