OG House Icon Junior Sanchez Returns
So far, the 2020s have been marked with returns of nostalgic pop culture icons. Legendary NYC-based house producer Junior Sanchez is no exception! June 23 marks the day that his track “Art O Fact” is shared to the world via Planet E Communications.
“Art O Fact” is a bouncy, violin-heavy club banger that pays homage to Detroit’s unique blend of soulful dance. Coincidentally, the owner of the record of the label in which the song was released happens to be famed Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig, a close friend of the musician. Although the runtime is approximately eight minutes, it is safe to say that the song will keep us dancing long after it is over!
In addition to the original mix, Art O Fact is an EP that includes three other versions of the song — the Luv4Detroit edit, a reprise, and a shortened version of a runtime of approximately four minutes. The first edit maintains the grooviness of the original but it adds more Detroit soul onto it. The reprise is a slow build-up that amps the level of dramatic string sections and drum beats which leaves us in awe and suspense. In regards to his new work, Sanchez claimed it was created spontaneously while paying tribute to Detroit.
“Art O Fact — was created purely and simply out of creative inspiration. I walked into the studio one morning not really knowing what to do, so I let my inspiration guide me and my inspiration really was Detroit. I thought about that city, what it meant to me and what techno really meant to my heart. I have loved so many records by Carl Craig, DJ ROLANDO, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins, so the result is something really beautiful and organic, and the fact that it’s coming out on Carl Craig’s planet E imprint is such an honor.”
