TALK Finds Acceptance in His Newest Single “A Little Bit Happy”
TALK released his newest single, “A Little Bit Happy,” which comes with a powerful message. He pulls from his own experiences— times when he has longed for acceptance from people he has loved.
For this track, TALK worked with Justin Tranter, a producer who’s worked with other big artists like Halsey, Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy. Tranter will also produce TALK’s full and forthcoming album.
At first, listeners may feel sad and heavy-hearted. The lyrics are emotional, speaking of toxic relationships and loneliness. Matching this, the pop ballad opens up with an acoustic guitar. TALK begins, singing in a straightforward and unadorned way. In certain moments, a raspier sound comes through, and the song blends into rock.
Turns out all of my highs are making love to my lows
Making fun of my boundaries, sticks and stones
You say “love” I believe it to the bone
– “A Little Bit Happy”
The chorus sounds like a deep breath, a deep exhale as if he’s letting something off his chest. It is a moment of realization that saddens him. But it also frees him and allows him to find someone who truly appreciates him. The lesson is equally applicable to listeners who might find themselves in a similar situation.
For a long time, I didn’t feel beautiful. Every time I looked in the mirror, I hated what I saw. This was my reality every day for the last decade. Then I met my partner, and she was the first person to make me feel happy and beautiful in a long time. This song serves as a reminder of how she sees me. For the times I feel down and out and for anyone else [with] body image issues or feels like they don’t belong.
