It’s time to headbang and break things. Or maybe it’s time to detach into dreamland. Or simply, cry (but not in a sad way). No matter the mood this weekend, New Music Friday Dance has it covered.
1. Varg²™, Ecco2k, Bladee: “H2D”
Swedish alternative artists Ecco2k and Bladee team up with producer Varg²™ for the wavy, ethereal “H2D.” It is a bright, heavenly, synthy concoction, resulting in an innovative interpretation of EDM. The track speaks of loss and identity; themes associated with Drain Gang’s artistic journey.
2. k?d: “Tear Me Down”
Young DJ k?d returns with “Tear Me Down,” showing off his immaculate production skills. It is spatially engaging and crisp, with each hit and release of the bass playing smoothly. This progressive synth-wave, trap track features airy feminine vocals and bubbly percussion, easy on the ears.
3. BRKLYN: “Get Back The Love”
House DJ duo BRKLYN serves up “Get Back The Love,” a bouncy track to kickstart summer early. The syncopated piano chords add a notable warmth and retro house feel, creating a song anybody would dance to. The layered vocals reverb excellently, making the track perfect to play in big rooms.
4. Los Padres, MARE: “Corazón”
Club shades are on for “Corazón,” the new deep house jam from experienced DJs Los Padres and MARE. The transitions are elite, as are the builds, driven by some Latin-influenced percussion and an elliptical, distorted brass instrument.
5. Deathpact: “NEMESIS”
Deathpact sits atop the throne as the reigning monarch of spooky, noisy dubstep with “NEMESIS.” The track certainly sounds like it was made for or by a nemesis (or an alien). It has sizzling clangs of metal, warped laser beams, a chanting chorus, and a deep voice that interjects with “BREAK IT.“
