“Never Wanted That” Is The Newest Single Off Of Greg Puciato’s Anticipated Album Mirrorcell

Greg Puciato is known for his time as lead vocalist of metalcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan, and for his current bands The Black Queen and Killer Be Killed. However, Puciato has also released a good amount of solo work, including his new single and music video, “Never Wanted That.”

Watch the music video for “Never Wanted That” here:

“Never Wanted That,” Greg Puciato’s newest single off his anticipated album, Mirrorcell (out July 1st), brings back the alt-rock, and even grunge sound of the 90’s. His vocals and the musical arrangement are reminiscent of songs like Niravana’s “Lithium,” although with a more mellow and dark undertone.

The music video for “Never Wanted” evokes even more of the 90’s alt-rock feel, as it shows Greg walking through an empty city in a black and white video. There is a film grain type filter over the shots, making it seem as though the video was recorded on an older camera.

When filming the music video for “Never Wanted That,” Greg states that,

“This vid was a nice exercise in making do with what you have available to you, or the creative benefits of limitation,” explains Puciato of the Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera directed video. “We filmed this in Baltimore, which was special to me, at like 3 a.m., while on the Cantrell tour. It was really the only time I had. We did multiple whole takes and this was the one.”

Puciato’s passion for music and connecting with fans is evident in his recent musical projects which also showcase his diverse range. These include his work with The Black Queen, his debut solo album (Child Soldier: Creator of God), and Killer Be Killed’s 2020 collection (Reluctant Hero). Puciato has also contributed to Jerry Cantrell’s Brighten, and recently collaborated with Carpenter Brut on the track “Imaginary Fire” (Leather Terror).
