Jackie Hollander Releases New Single “My Power”

Rising star in the melodic house and techno scene Jackie Hollander made her Insomniac Records single debut with “My Power.” The track features singer, songwriter, and vocal engineer Brieanna Grace, and the dynamic between the two artists creates a seamlessly infectious techno hit.

Hollander said the track came together beautifully thanks to the energy she and Grace were able to create in the studio together when discussing the song’s trajectory. Thematically the track reflects on both of their experiences of balancing love and heartbreak with the passion they have for their careers in music, as well as the sensitivity and emotional intelligence that those decisions require. 

As artists, we often have to choose between relationships or our careers, which is very demanding and time-consuming. This song is about never giving up on yourself or your dreams, as that is where your power comes from. Hollander’s production on “My Power” is a skillful blend of thick, buzzing synths, soft acid licks, and pounding drums. These production elements come together to create a powerful base that perfectly complements Grace’s skillset as a singer. 

It’s the ways in which Grace’s lyrics and heartfelt vocal delivery pair with Hollander’s energetic production that helps make this track standout. Each verse’s production give’s Grace the room to oscillate between a breathy, sensitive timbre and a more powerful, direct delivery. These dynamics in her vocals perfectly reflect the tonal shift in Hollander’s production between the verse and chorus, making “My Power” as impressive structurally as it is entertaining. 

Interestingly, Grace’s perspective on the song’s meaning differs slightly from Hollander’s. Their interpretations reflect the ways in which the song plays with the sonic relationship between sensitivity and power.
