Hailing from the Bay Area, Mekfly is a 23-year-old performing artist and dancer who is a co-founder of the hip-hop collective Lost Radicals. He started rapping and recording when he was 16 and then a year later went on to start producing for himself. He works with his sibling, Taj Mahalo, to create music to appeal to modern listeners with an old-school aesthetic while still keeping the art fun, soulful, and easy to groove to. He hopes to spread his vibe and sound to an international level and is working effortlessly to push the movement of his sound forward.
“STRANGE” is his latest single from his upcoming project, It’s All Subjective. This single embodies the braggadacious aspect of how Mekfly boosts his confidence, stepping into the role of a rowdy, careless, and much cooler character. It’s a track with a fluid vibe that keeps listeners engaged and bopping their heads. Mekfly raps his verses in a silky smooth tone that’s both peaceful but exacting at the same time. The back track features luminous bell sounds that complement the deeper bar tones.
