Maisie Peters Readies to Conclude “You Signed Up For This” Tour in San Francisco
Nearly set to conclude her headlining tour in support of her debut album, You Signed Up For This, Maisie Peters is rising in the industry with her sweet voice and sweeter words. Maisie garnered over 200 million streams in 2020, and has quickly progressed from busking on the streets of England. Since her beginnings, the singer-songwriter signed to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records. Maisie then released her debut album You Signed Up For This on August 27th last year before launching her first ever headlining tour earlier this year.
With a fervent following, over half a billion global streams to date, sold out headline shows in both the UK and US, famous fans (Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Sam Smith), and a newly inked deal with one of the most successful musicians of all time, Maisie is poised for a break-out in the industry.
We joined her tour in San Francisco’s The Chapel, a quaint venue in a quiet bookstore and boutique decorated neighborhood of San Francisco. As an old church converted into a venue, wooden panels, vibrant walls, and a bar around the side showcased the location in its finest and all its uniqueness.
Jonah Kagen opened the night up. He was charming and shared how much he loved California with soothing vocals with a sweet personality and warmed the crowd with his smile. He played an acoustic set, which offered a sense of intimacy that made you feel like you were all friends playing music together in the living room.
Elegant and poised, Maisie Peters then joined the stage. Her energy soothed every aching heart as she danced and whipped her blonde locks to and fro. Each track, layered in texture of acoustic, soft pop drums, and keys, were met with an audience singing sweetly along to every word she played.
Her name hung high at the back of the stage as her red lips blazed like flame with platinum locks and black, tight-fitted clothing. And her voice rang beautifully in each hall, echoing within every being as it filled our ears in each room and each word was sung with care and heartfelt meaning, as if a he were singing to each one of us, reaching out and holding each broken heart in her hand and holding it still until it felt a bit more at ease.
During the set, she took pause in her performance to talk with a fan, who had been weeping along due to a bad breakup. She asked her name and soothed her with her kindness and heartfelt words, melting the hearts of the audience as they all sang the song along with Maisie in the girl’s honor.
“I know your boyfriend sucks; you’re at a Maisie Peters gig,” Maisie said before beginning to sing, and the audience erupted in laughter. “You’ll be okay. We will all be okay.”
